The terms of office of the members of the parks and recreation board shall be five (5) years or until their successors are appointed and have qualified; except, that the members first appointed to the board shall be appointed for such terms that the term of one member shall expire annually thereafter. If a vacancy occurs in the office of any board member, the mayor shall appoint a successor to serve for the unexpired term. (1996 Code § 21-29)
