10-1-1: BUILDING OFFICIAL:
   A.   Office Created: There is hereby established the office of building official for the city. (Ord. 1317, 6-13-2000)
   B.   Appointment; Term; Removal: The building official shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the city council, and his term of office shall not exceed that of the mayor. The building official may be removed from office at any time by a vote of the majority of the city council members. (Ord. 1317, 6-13-2000; amd. 2010 Code)
   C.   Qualifications: The city building official must be a certified building inspector for residential and commercial building inspections by the International Code Council. (Ord. 1513, 1-29-2008)
   D.   Enforcement Duties: It shall be the duty of the building official to enforce all laws relating to the construction, alteration, removal and demolition of buildings and structures.
   E.   Entry Powers: The building official, in the discharge of his official duties and upon proper identification, shall have the authority to enter any building, structure or premises at any reasonable hour. (Ord. 1317, 6-13-2000)
   F.   Acting Building Official: During the temporary absence or disability of the building official, the city engineer and/or the public safety officer shall be the acting building official. (Ord. 1317, 6-13-2000; amd. 2010 Code)
