CENTRAL ISLAND: The raised area in the center of a roundabout around which traffic circulates.
ROUNDABOUT: A circular, raised center island with deflecting islands on the intersecting streets to direct traffic movement counterclockwise around the circle.
TRUCK APRON: The area surrounding the central island to allow large vehicles to travel around the roundabout without encroaching on the central island and the outside edge of which abuts the circulatory roadway of the roundabout. (Ord. 2010-03, 2010)
