§ 150.51 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF MULTI-UNIT RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES.
   (A)   The provisions of this section shall apply to all multi-family structures, including hotels, motels, nursing homes, sheltered care facilities, apartments and condominiums, together with their appurtenances and accessory structures except one- and two- family dwellings and one-family town houses, which are not more than three stories in height, and which have eight or less individual dwelling units per structure with a maximum of four units off of, and using, a common entryway.
   (B)   Construction types shall be limited to types 1A, 1B, or 2A, as per Table 601 in the International Building Code 2006. The minimum fire rating for any building element which is required to have a rating beyond zero hours listed in Table 601 shall be two hours. Any other element required by the 2006 International Building Code to be rated shall also have a rating of two hours.
