(A) Officers shall be permitted to:
(1) Register and vote in any election;
(2) Express opinion as individuals privately and publicly on political issues and candidates;
(3) Attend political conventions, rallies, fund-raising functions and similar political gatherings;
(4) Actively engage in any nonpartisan political functions;
(5) Sign political petitions as individuals;
(6) Make financial contributions to political organizations;
(7) Serve as election judge or clerks or in a similar position to perform nonpartisan duties as prescribed by state and local laws;
(8) Hold membership in a political party and participate in its functions to the extent consistent with the law and consistent with this section; and
(9) Otherwise participate fully in public affairs, except as provided, by law, to the extent that the endeavors do not impair the neutral and efficient performance of official duties, or real or apparent conflicts of interest.
(B) Officers are prohibited from using their official capacity and/or title to influence, interfere with or affect the results of an election, or engage in political activity while on duty or in uniform in compliance with all Kentucky Revised Statutes and federal codes.
