Every owner of, and every person in control of, any estate maintaining a sidewalk vault, coal hold, manhole, or any other excavation, or any post, pole, sign, awning, wire, pipe, conduit or other structure in, under, over or upon, any street which is adjacent to or a part of his or her estate, shall do so only on condition that such item shall be maintained. It shall be understood that the estate or agent shall hold the City harmless in any claim that may arise from such installation and it shall be the duty of the estate and/or agent to hold harmless the City in any claim arising from such item.
