For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
HOTEL. Any building or part thereof kept, used or maintained as or held out to the public to be an inn, hotel or motel where travelers or members of the public (including gratuitous guests) are furnished with sleeping accommodations, and which may include a general kitchen and a public dining room where the guests and general public may be served with food and drink.
ROOMING, LODGING OR BOARDING HOUSES. A dwelling having one kitchen and used for the purpose of providing meals or lodging or both meals and lodging for pay or compensation of any kind, computed by day, week or month to persons other than members of the family occupying such dwellings. In the case of single and two-family dwellings the number of roomers or boarders shall not exceed the two per dwelling unit unless such dwellings be made to comply in all respects with the provisions of this chapter relating to multiple dwellings.
