§ 150.177 CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS.
   (A)   All swimming pools shall be erected in the rear yard or in the rear portion of the lot behind the principal building. No swimming pool shall be nearer than six feet from the side or rear lot line, nor shall any swimming pool be erected any nearer than eight feet from any house, building or residence.
   (B)   This provision shall not prevent the installation of electrical underwater lighting provided that said installation shall comply with the minimum requirements of the National Electrical and Safety Code and be inspected and approved by the Building Department.
   (C)   No electric wires shall be nearer than five feet from the water’s edge, except as provided in division (B) of this section, nor shall any electric wires be installed less than ten feet above the grade level of the lot unless otherwise approved by the Building Inspector. No electrical wire of any type shall cross over the surface of the water.
   (D)   There shall be no direct connection of the drain line of the pool with the city sewer system. The residue from the filtered discharge must drain through an indirect connection to a sanitary sewer and be approved by the Building Department.
   (E)   There shall be no cross-connection of the city water supply with any other source of water supply for the pool. There shall be provided an air gap delivery connection at least six inches above the flood rim of the pool or make-up tank.
   (F)   No swimming pool shall be filled, or water added from the city water system when the temperature as officially predicted by the U.S. Weather Bureau is 80° F, or more, nor shall any swimming pool be filled, or water added, at any time, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
   (G)   All pools shall be constructed in a manner to prevent scum, splash, deck water and any other matter from returning to the pool except through the filter system.
   (H)   All pools shall be kept free from floating material, sediment and debris by the use of an automatic surface skimmer, scum gutter or any other means approved by the Building Department of the city, The bottom of the pool shall be kept free of debris and other foreign material and shall be maintained in a clean condition.
   (I)   Every private swimming pool shall be equipped with an approved filtration system and the entire circulating system shall be capable of filtering and recirculating the entire volume content of the pool during a 12-hour period. The rate of application of pool water on the filters shall not be greater than three gallons per minute per square foot of filter area unless the Building Department of the city shall approve other rates of recirculation or rates of application of water on the filters.
   (J)   All pools shall be controlled for germicidal or bacterial content by the use of chlorine, bromine or such other disinfectants as shall be approved by the Building Department of the city.
      (1)   Such disinfecting agents shall be applied to the pool water at a uniform rate.
      (2)   Provision shall be made for adjusting the application thereof so as to keep the germicidal or bacterial protection of the water in the pool equal to a standard of 0.5 parts per million to 1.0 parts per million.
      (3)   Testing devices capable of accurately measuring such residual shall be provided.
