Ventilation for a heater room or space shall be provided by means of grilles, louvers or a duct arranged to supply air from outside or from a permanently ventilated underfloor or attic space. Ducts shall be screened and have a free area at least equal to the free area of flues or vents to which the fuel-burning equipment is connected. Grilles or louvers shall be in pairs, one located near the floor and the other near the ceiling, each to have a free area of at least one square inch for each 1,000 British Thermal Units per hour input rating of the heating device.
