(a) Each member shall be a resident of the Municipality for two years preceding appointment and shall remain a resident for the duration of their term.
(b) Honorable Service Requirement. Each member shall have served, or shall be currently serving, in the United States Armed Forces. Each veteran member shall have received either an honorable or general (under honorable conditions) discharge.
(c) Active-duty service during hostilities. Each member shall have served on active duty during hostilities in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters. Service under this Section may be shown by reference to any of the following:
(1) The veteran's DD-214 form confirms that they have been awarded a campaign medal or served during a period of recognized hostility.
(2) If a veteran's DD-214 form has not been completed, they can contact the National Personnel Records Center online or at (314)-801-0800 to request more information for the purpose of demonstrating eligibility under this Section. Service on the board eligibility based on information obtained under Division (c)(4) of this Section shall be determined at the discretion of City Council.
