All dogs found to be within the city shall be vaccinated against rabies at least every 36 months. All cats found to be within the city shall be vaccinated against rabies at least every 24 months. In addition, the owner or custodian of any animal in the city must, within two days of request by an officer, provide the officer with a written statement or certificate of a licensed veterinarian to the effect that the dog or cat has been properly vaccinated according to the regulations contained herein prior to the request. It shall be unlawful for any owner or custodian of a dog or cat to fail to vaccinate the dog or cat as provided herein, or to fail to provide proof thereof as provided herein.
