All pawnbrokers shall retain all items purchased and make available for examination to members of the Hopkinsville Police Department, or other law enforcement officials, at the place of purchase for a period of ten consecutive work days after the receipt before such items may be resold or exchanged unless written permission is obtained from the Police Chief.
