Whenever lane control signals are used in conjunction with official signs, they shall have the following meaning:
A. Drivers of vehicles facing such signals are to use the lane for which the signal is displayed, providing that no intersection traffic-control signal gives a stop indication affecting the lane or lanes involved.
B. Opaque X on red, red X on opaque background, or red alone: Drivers of vehicles facing such signals are prohibited from using the lane for which the signal is displayed.
