§ 130.002 ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS.
   It shall be unlawful for any person to attempt to commit an offense prohibited by this chapter and, in the attempt, shall do any act towards the commission of the offense, but shall fail in the perpetration or shall be intercepted or prevented in the execution of same, where no express provision is made by code for the punishment of the attempt. However, in no case shall imprisonment for the violation exceed one-half the greatest punishment which might have been inflicted if the offense so attempted had been committed.
