§ 94.022 FIRE LANES OR ZONES.
   (A)   Fire lane or fire zone signs must be posted on all areas designated by the Chief Inspector of the Bureau of Fire Prevention as a fire lane or fire zone. A sign must be posted at the beginning and at the end of each fire lane or fire zone with arrows pointing in the direction of the lane or zone. If the lane or zone exceeds 40 feet, signs should be intermittently posted to a maximum of 40 feet apart (20-foot spacing is preferred). These intermittent signs should have arrows facing in both directions.
   (B)   Signs should be a minimum size of 12 inches by 18 inches and have a white background with a red legend.
   (C)   Signs shall contain the caption: “No Parking Fire Lane” or “No Parking Fire Zone” or in the alternative the internationally accepted no-parking insignia with the caption “Fire Lane” or “Fire Zone.”
   (D)   Signs should be affixed to either existing columns at the edge of lanes or zones or to new posts erected at least 24 inches from the face of the curb and mounted at a height of seven feet.
   (E)   Signs may be mounted on buildings which are ten feet or less from the curb with the approval of the Chief Inspector of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and the Parking System Administrator.
