Upon payment of ten percent (10%) of the original building permit fee, building permits for buildings or structures upon which work has been commenced may be once extended for a period not exceeding six (6) months. Provided said extension is requested within six (6) months after expiration and that the work complies with the Building Codes in effect at the time of the extension. Permits for which work has not begun also may be extended once for up to six (6) months upon payment of ten percent (10%) of the original building permit fee and subject to compliance with Building Codes in effect at the time of such extension.
