The village police department shall consist of the following police officers and employees:
A. Chief Of Police: The appointment of the chief of police shall be made by the president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees. The chief of police shall hold his office during the pleasure of the president and board of trustees; except, that the same shall expire with the municipal year or until his successor is appointed and qualified. He shall be the superintendent of the police force of the village and have the authority to delegate immediate supervisory responsibilities according to the chain of command. (1985 Code § 5-1-2)
B. Deputy Chief Of Police: The appointment of the deputy chief of police shall be made by the president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees. The deputy chief of police shall hold his office at the pleasure of the president and board of trustees. (Ord. 12-07, 8-30-2012)
C. Lieutenant Of Police: The number of lieutenants of police shall be determined from time to time by the president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees.
D. Sergeant Of Police: The number of sergeants of police shall be determined from time to time by the president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees. (Ord. 02-02, 1-14-2002)
E. Patrolmen: The number of patrolmen shall be set from time to time by the president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees. (Ord. 92-3, 2-10-1992, eff. retroactive to 1-13-1992; amd. Ord. 97-17, 5-12-1997)
F. Police Matrons: Police matrons may be appointed from among the regular members of the department and shall perform the duties as police matrons in addition to their other duties as members of the police department. (1985 Code § 5-1-2; amd. Ord. 97-17, 5-12-1997; 2016 Code)
