It shall be the duty of all firefighters to prevent and extinguish accidental or destructive fires; to mitigate the results of, and to render aid in the case of, accident or disaster and to perform such other duties in the preservation of life and property as may be assigned.
All firefighters shall have the responsibilities, authority, and liability prescribed by state statute, this code, and other village ordinances for firefighters. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed as creating any duty to any specific member of the public. (Ord., 12-16-1991)
