7-1-5: PRIVATE OR COMMERCIAL USE:
   A.   General: Except as specifically provided in this section or section 7-1-5.1 of this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person to use any street, sidewalk or other public place as space for the display of goods or merchandise for sale or for any private purpose, or for any person to write, place or mark any signs or advertisements on any such street, sidewalk or public place.    B.   Street Closings For Recreational Purposes: The village manager may authorize the barricading and closing of streets for a period not to exceed twelve (12) hours for recreational purposes when the following conditions have been met:
      1.   A petition has been filed requesting such closing executed by seventy five percent (75%) of the property owners or lessees adjacent to the streets affected.
      2.   The chief of police has advised the village manager that the closing will not create a traffic hazard or otherwise interfere with public safety.
      3.   The chief of the fire department has advised the village manager that the closing will not create a fire hazard.
      4.   That the closing will not unduly inconvenience the residents of the neighborhood involved.
      5.   That the recreational purpose be nonprofit. (Ord., 8-18-1970)
   C.   Directional Signs For Not-For-Profit Organizations 1 : The village manager may authorize the posting of not more than two (2) directional signs to direct the public to a facility owned and operated by a not-for-profit organization located within the village. Such signs may be requested by such an organization by application to the village manager, on forms specified by the village. All such signs shall be created and installed by the village, at a location and in a manner approved by the village manager, upon payment by the applicant of the cost thereof in the amount of one hundred dollars ($100.00) per sign. Each sign shall consist of not more than two (2) faces, and may be attached only to existing village owned or controlled posts or signs within the public street rights of way. The cost of replacement of the signs as necessary from time to time shall be at the cost of the applicant. (Ord. O2001-3, 1-16-2001)
