5-1-7: POWERS AND DUTIES OF POLICE OFFICERS GENERALLY:
It shall be the duty of all police officers to enforce all of the provisions of this code and other ordinances of the village and all statutes and laws effective in the village; to preserve order and prevent infractions of the law and to arrest violators thereof; to mitigate the results of, and to render aid in the case of accident or disaster; and to perform such other duties in the preservation of life and property as may be assigned.
All police officers shall be conservators of the peace and shall have the powers specified in 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/3-9-4.
All police officers shall be authorized to serve warrants, summons, and other process.
All police officers shall have the responsibilities, authority, and liability prescribed by statute, this code, and other village ordinances for police officers. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed as creating any duty to any specific member of the public. (Ord., 12-16-1991)
