§ 31.001 TERM OF OFFICE; ELECTIONS.
   (A)   Except as otherwise provided in I.C. 36-5-2-3(b), (c), (d) or (e), the term of office of a member of the Town Council is four years, beginning at noon January 1 after the member’s election and continuing until the member’s successor is elected and qualified.

   (B)   (1)   Pursuant to I.C. 3-10-7-2.9, the members of the Town Council shall stand for election in the year 2019 (or holdover in office under Article 15, Section 3 of the Indiana Constitution) and shall serve for the terms as follows:
         (a)   At large seat 1, term expiring in 2019.
         (b)   At large seat 2, term expiring in 2019.
         (c)   At large seat 3, term expiring in 2019.
      (2)   An election for the successors to the members of the Town Council at large seats one and two elected in the year 2019 will occur in the year 2022 and shall serve for a term of four years. An election for the successor to the member of the Town Council at large seat three elected in the year 2019 will occur in the year 2020. Thereafter all terms for members of the Town Council shall be for four years and until a successor is elected and qualified.
      (3)   This division (B) will be effective for the elections beginning in 2019, forward, until this section is repealed pursuant to I.C. 3-10-7-2.9(d), as amended or supplemented.
