From and after the effective date hereof, no lot or tract of land located within the city, or within the area of jurisdiction of the plan commission, and which contains an area of more than one-half (1/2) acre, shall be divided or redivided in any manner into two (2) or more lesser tracts for building site purposes without subdividing or resubdividing and platting such tract in the manner provided by the statutes of the state.
