A. General Restrictions: Provisions of 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/11-601 and 5/11-606 shall apply. (2009 Code)
B. Specific Speed Limits Established:
1. Streets: The maximum speed limit on all streets in the city shall be twenty five (25) miles per hour. The twenty five (25) mile per hour speed limit shall not apply to streets for which another maximum speed limit has been declared and established by the city council when appropriate signs giving notice of such other speed limits are erected at the proper place or along the proper part or zone of such street. Traffic control devices in the form of speed limit signs giving reasonable notice of this speed limit shall be placed and maintained at the major or principal public way entrances to the city, as follows:

2. Alleys: No person shall drive a vehicle upon any alley within the city in excess of ten (10) miles per hour, whether posted or unposted. (Ord. 75-O-15, 11-21-1975)
