6-1-2: REINSTATEMENT OF POLICE:
   A.   Petition For Reinstatement: Any police officer who is duly appointed as such and serves in such capacity and thereafter leaves such employment with the city may file a petition for reinstatement of his employment with the mayor.
   B.   Action By Mayor: The mayor, after consulting with the chief of the police department, may reinstate the employment of such police officer upon such terms and conditions as the mayor may deem appropriate, or may decline to do so, as he may deem advisable in his sole discretion.
   C.   Status Of Reinstated Employee: If the mayor elects to reinstate the employment of such police officer, upon returning to work, the period of time such employee was not serving the city shall be considered as a furlough or leave of absence, and his personnel record shall be revised or amended accordingly.
