SECTION 6.06 BOARD OF BUILDING AND ZONING APPEALS.
A Board of Building and Zoning Appeals, consisting of five (5) electors of the Municipality, shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members elected to Council. Of the Board members first appointed by the Mayor, one shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years; one shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years; one shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years; one shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years; and one shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year. Thereafter, appointments shall be made annually at the termination of each member’s term of office and each appointment shall be for a term of five (5) years. A vacancy occurring during the term of any member shall be filled for the unexpired term in the manner authorized for an original appointment.
The Board shall choose from its members a Chairman, Secretary and such other officers as it shall deem necessary. The Board shall make its own rules and regulations and keep a journal of its proceedings. Members of the Board shall serve without compensation unless otherwise provided by ordinance.
The Board shall meet only when a matter is brought before it. A majority of the members of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business and the affirmative vote of three (3) members of the Board shall be necessary for any official action.
