9-2-4: INSTALLATION OF SERVICE PIPES:
   A.   The connection from the main to the curb stop shall be placed at least four feet (4') below the level of the ground, and the service pipe shall be laid sufficiently waving so that it shall be at least one foot (1') longer than if laid in a straight line and shall be placed in such manner as to prevent rupture or breakage from settling of the ground. All service pipes shall be of type K copper tubing or one hundred sixty (160) pound test polyethylene pipe conforming to ASTM D-2737 CTS and shall be of not less than three-fourths inch (3/4") nominal diameter. Water services two inches (2") and greater in diameter shall be Class 51 ductile iron or type K copper as applicable, or two hundred (200) psi PVC SDR 21 pipe conforming to the water main standards described in section 9-2-5 of this chapter.
   B.   Polyethylene and copper service connections shall be made with compression type connections. All polyethylene service pipe shall have stainless steel inserts at every compression type fitting.
   C.   Service clamps shall be required for all three-fourths inch (3/4") to two inch (2") diameter services on all PVC main. Service clamps shall be of high grade cast bronze construction and shall be of the type that will not crush the PVC pipe out of round. Service clamps shall be Mueller H-13431 for six inch (6") main and K-13433 for eight inch (8") main or approved equal. Water services larger than two inches (2") in diameter shall require fittings conforming to the water main standards described in section 9-2-5 of this chapter. (Ord. 1989-4.5, 7-10-1989)
   D.   All service pipes and connections shall be inspected and approved by the Superintendent or other persons under his direction, and no such service pipes shall be covered until they have been so inspected. (1981 Code § 6-6-61)
