139.01 ESTABLISHED; COMPOSITION.
   (a)   Department Established. A Police Department is established for the Village.
   (b)   Composition of the Department. The Police Department shall consist of the Chief of Police and such other officers and employees as authorized by Council.
   (c)   Appointments. The Chief of Police and all other police officers shall be appointed for a probationary period of six months of continuous service and no such appointment shall be deemed permanent until any such patrolman has satisfactorily served his probationary period, as provided by Ohio R.C. 737.17. Appointment of deputy police officers shall not be considered permanent appointments, and they shall not have tenure provided by Ohio R.C. 737.17.
   (d)   Physical and Oral Examination. Applicants and prospective appointees for appointment for any of the offices provided for herein shall submit to such physical, written or oral examinations as may be prescribed or required by the laws of the State of Ohio or by the Mayor of the Village.
   (e)   Duties of Patrol Officers. A patrol officer shall perform all duties enjoined upon such officer by the law of the State and the ordinances of the Village, and such duties as may be directed or designated by the Chief of Police or the Mayor.

   (f)   Work Week. A full-time officer of the Police Department shall be required to work forty hours each week and shall be paid as provided by the salary ordinances of the Village.
