941.03 POLICY.
The owner, lessee or official custodian shall be responsible for protection of the public water supply system from contamination due to back pressure or back siphonage of contaminants through the customer water service connection. If, in the judgment of the Utilities Director or his authorized representative, an approved backflow prevention assembly is necessary for the safety of the public water supply system, the Utilities Director shall give notice to the consumer for installation of such approved backflow prevention assembly at each service connection to the property. The consumer shall immediately install such approved assembly or assemblies at his own expense. Failure, refusal or inability on the part of the consumer to install such assembly or assemblies immediately shall constitute grounds for discontinuing water service to the property until such assembly or assemblies have been installed and tested as per this chapter. It shall also be the responsibility of the consumer to have their water plumbing system comply with the latest revision of the Ohio Plumbing Codes. The consumer shall retain records of installation, maintenance, testing and repairs as required in this chapter for a period of at least five (5) years.
