10-2-10: CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PUBLIC TREES:
Minor care and maintenance of trees and landscaping as defined in "Hayden Tree Standards Manual" in rights of way may be done by landowner of the adjacent property (the controller). Before carrying out major pruning of a public tree, a controller must obtain written permission to do so from the city administrator or the administrator's designee. The controller's request for permission to carry out major pruning of a public tree should be in writing and should explain why the pruning is necessary and describe the objectives and, to the extent practical, the details of the proposed pruning. Reference should be made to the "Hayden Tree Standards Manual" for guidance on how to care for public trees.
Assistance from the city in carrying out these responsibilities will be provided to the extent practical, if requested. (Ord. 332, 12-16-2002)
