Any person receiving a permit as described in this chapter shall suitably guard and protect any excavations or obstructions, by him made or caused, and defend and indemnify the village from all actions, suits, costs and damages and expenses, including attorney fees, which shall or may at any time happen to come to it, or for or on account of any injury or damage received or sustained by any person caused by any negligence or from any unfaithful or inadequate work done under his permit.
