§ 92.24 IMPOUNDING.
   (A)   It shall be the duty of every officer to capture each dog and cat which has been caused, permitted or allowed to be in violation of any of the provisions of this subchapter and to deliver the dog or cat to Blackford County Animal Shelter, Inc.
   (B)   Any licensed or unvaccinated dog or cat found at large or any unlicensed dog or cat found at large in violation of §§ 92.22 or 92.23 of this chapter shall be seized and impounded by Blackford County Animal Shelter, Inc.
   (C)   The owner of a licensed dog or cat shall be notified within two days that upon payment of the impounding fee, plus the cost of food and care in a reasonable amount, the dog or cat will be returned. If an impounded licensed dog or cat is not recovered by its owner within five days after notice, the dog or cat may be put up for adoption.
   (D)   Upon proper identification, an impounded unlicensed dog or cat may be recovered by the owner by payment of the license fee, impounding fee and boarding costs, as well as the cost of vaccination if vaccination is required by § 92.17 of this chapter. If the dog or cat is not claimed within five days after notice, it may be put up for adoption.
