§ 72.03  SNOWMOBILES.
   (A)   Definitions. For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      OPERATE.  To ride in or on, or use or control the operation of a snowmobile in any manner, other than as a passenger.
      SNOWMOBILE.  A self-propelled device designed for travel on snow or ice or natural terrain steered by skis, or runners, and supported in part by skis, belts or cleats.
   (B)   Operation of snowmobiles prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a snowmobile in the village under the following circumstances:
      (1)   On the private property of another without the express written consent of the owner or lessee of the property; failure to post signs does not imply consent for snowmobile use;
      (2)   On public property including, but not limited to, school grounds, park property, playgrounds, recreational areas and golf courses without express permission to do so by the proper public authority;
      (3)   In a manner so as to create loud, unnecessary or unusual noise so as to disturb or interfere with the peace and quiet of other persons;
      (4)   In a careless, reckless or negligent manner so as to endanger the safety of any person or the property of any other person;
      (5)   Without having the snowmobile registered as provided for by statute, except that this provision shall not apply to the operation of a snowmobile on the private property of the owner by the owner or a member of his or her immediate family;
      (6)   Within the right-of-way of any public street within the village, except for the following public streets; and
      (7)   In all other respects all snowmobiles operated within the village limits shall be operated in conformance with the Snowmobile Registration and Safety Act, as now or hereafter amended at ILCS Ch. 625, Act 40, §§ 1-1 et seq.
