Every person, firm or corporation desirous of carrying on or conducting the trade or business shall make application in writing to the Clerk of the city for a license, setting forth the street number of the place of business in which the trade or business is intended to be carried on. The Clerk shall have power to grant the license upon the payment of $5. All licenses shall expire upon May 1 next following the issuance of the same. The Clerk shall record in a book, to be kept in his or her office for public inspection, the name, street and number of the place of business of each person, firm or corporation to whom the license shall be issued.
