(A) No licensee shall sell, offer or expose for sale, or have in or about his or her cart, wagon, or other vehicle, any fruits, vegetables or foodstuffs unless the same is covered and free from exposure to animals, flies, insects, dust, dirt, the elements and from handling by persons, except as shall be necessary in the vending and delivery to the purchaser, provided that the provision of this section shall not apply to fruits, nuts or other articles of food having a natural covering protecting them from infection or contamination and which must be removed before consumption.
(B) The City Council may, from time to time, by resolution, designate streets or portions of the city within which hawking and peddling shall be prohibited and the Police Department of the city shall have power and authority to enforce the provisions of the resolution.
