(A) Every appointment to the Police Department shall be for a probationary period of 1 year.
(B) If at any time during the probationary period the conduct or capacity of the probationer is found to be unsatisfactory, as determined by the Board of Public Works and Safety, upon the recommendation for discharge by the Police Chief the probationer shall, without hearing and without right of appeal, be notified in writing by the Board of Public Works and Safety that he or she will not receive a permanent appointment, whereupon his or her employment shall cease.
(C) Otherwise, retention of the probationer in service after the expiration of the probationary period shall be equivalent to and shall constitute his or her final and permanent appointment.
