§ 51.084 MONITORING OF MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS.
   (A)   All major contributors shall install, within 180 days of the effective date of this chapter, at their own expense:
      (1)   A suitable control manhole (vault), together with such necessary appurtenances to facilitate observation, sampling and measurement of the plant wastewater discharge; and
      (2)   The sampling devices as may be reasonably necessary. The manholes (vaults) and sampling and testing devices shall be provided and maintained to the pretreatment coordinator’s satisfaction at the expense of the user. The POTW may provide monitoring equipment during a surveillance period.
   (B)   If specified by the POTW, monitoring equipment shall include:
      (1)   A device for automatically taking a 24-hour composite sample by flow or time; and/or
      (2)   A device for automatically recording flow of purchased city water is not used for billings. Each monitoring facility should be located on the discharger’s premises, except where the location would be impractical. There shall be ample room in or near the sampling facility to allow access, accurate sampling and preparation of samples for analysis. The facilities shall be constructed and maintained in accordance with all applicable local construction codes and specifications.
