(A) The duties assigned to these Departments will be the administrative and enforcement of all ordinances related to the maintenance of property in a safe and healthy manner. This Department will be empowered to abate nuisance properties and eliminate blight and unsafe housing.
(B) The department will issue all permits, registration, licenses as well as perform all inspections, request cut and clean orders, order repairs and/or demolitions, post uninhabitable designations, grant occupancy permits, issue stop work orders, enforce the Zoning Ordinance, the Unsafe Building Law and all remedies granted by the statute as adopted by ordinance, excepting all duties specifically prohibited or delegated elsewhere by Indiana state or federal law. All inspectors shall have the authority to cite violators, appear in court, record judgements, and perform inspection at the designation of the department head.
