§ 154.19 EXAMINATION.
   (A)   Before a license shall be issued to a HVAC contractor, the applicant shall be required to submit to and pass an examination as to his or her qualifications and fitness to install, maintain and/or repair heating, ventilating and cooling equipment. Such examination shall be given under the direction of the Board of Examiners.
   (B)   The initial fee for a HVAC contractor’s exam under this chapter shall be $100. Examinations shall be practical in nature and shall fairly test the ability of the applicant.
   (C)   The application for license shall be made at least 1 week prior to the exam date, which shall be the regular meeting date of the Board.
   (D)   Any person obtaining a HVAC contractor’s license following the issuance of a stop work order for failure to be licensed, shall pay an additional $250 in addition to the initial fee at the time of receiving a license.
   (E)   Any contractor who fails the examination for his or her license and is required to re-test must pay a $50 re-examination fee for each re-test. Persons who fail to show for a scheduled test will be considered as having failed the test. All persons and companies operating as HVAC contractors who fail the test given to them for the specific type of work they wish to perform, may retake a similar test, but the number of re-tests is limited to 2. No contractor or company may take the same test more than 3 times in a calendar year.
   (F)   The full annual fee must be paid, regardless of when a license is issued and there will be no proration of fee, nor refund of fee upon revocation or expiration of license.
