(A) The purpose of the Senior Citizens Commission shall be to help coordinate the activities of private and public groups involving the affairs of persons 60 years of age or older so that there shall be available to them the following.
(1) Adequate community and individual activities stimulating and maintaining the interests of senior citizens;
(2) Adequate public and private services maintaining and improving the health, welfare, convenience, and safety of senior citizens; and
(3) Adequate dissemination of information concerning the interests, problems and affairs of senior citizens.
(B) The Commission shall present and make recommendations in or for the interests of the senior citizens of the city to the city, county, state and federal governments. This subchapter shall provide a Commission formulated and recommended from the senior citizens and appointed by the Mayor to go to the state capital as a lobby group to see what can be done to alleviate the ever-increasing taxes which they have to pay and which they are not able to pay under a fixed income.
