(A) No person shall keep or maintain more than ten mature chickens (hens only), turkeys, ducks, geese, guineas, pigeons, or other poultry, fowl, or any combination of above fowl in any residential area within the corporate limits of the city unless the pen, poultry house, or other structure designed to confine or shelter such poultry or fowl is so located on such tract that the nearest portion thereof is not less than ten feet from the line of adjoining property.
(B) A lifetime fee of $10 per chicken and permit (Form 3) of location of fowl shall be submitted each year. If new fowl is obtained, owner must update permit and fees. Permit must be approved by the City Council. The city has the right to refuse any and all permits.
(C) The city has the right to refuse or revoke the permit at any time during the year. If three valid violation of the section are documented, the city will revoke the permit.
(D) All chicken coops must be a minimum of four square feet per chicken in size, must not exceed ten square feet per chicken in size, and must not exceed six feet in total height. Attached, fenced-in chicken runs must not exceed 20 square feet per chicken, and fencing must not exceed six feet in total height. Chicken runs may be enclosed with wood, chain link fence, and/or woven wire materials and may allow chickens to have contact with the ground.
(E) Chicken feed must be kept in metal predator-proof containers.
