§ 52.16 HOUSE CONNECTIONS.
   (A)   (1)   House connections with the public sewers shall be made with not less than four-inch vitrified, salt-glazen, stoneware pipe from the sewer to a point two feet outside of the building wall, the pipe to be jointed with Portland cement mortar consisting of one part of Portland cement and two parts of sand from a point three feet outside of foundation wall through the building to a point not less than two feet above the roof, the main soil pipe shall be of cast iron soil pipe, four inches in diameter, with lead joints.
      (2)   All drains from kitchen sinks of hotels and public eating houses and from laundries shall be provided with grease traps. In all cases where deemed necessary by the Committee, catch basins shall be provided to intercept water used in washing automobiles in garages or basement floors or for the collection of subsoil water from subdrains. The outlet from such catch basins shall be properly trapped so as to prevent air from the sewer entering the building and shall be provided with a back water trap to prevent water from the sewer backing up into the catch basin. Connections with all sewers and drains shall be made in a workmanlike manner, and all material and work shall be subject to the inspection and approval of the Committee or its duly authorized assistants.
   (B)   The street must be opened and paving or street surfacing and the excavated material deposited in a manner that will occasion the least inconvenience to the public, and provision for the passage of stormwater along the gutters must be made. One half of the street must be left clear for the passage of vehicles and bridge-ways provided on sidewalks for foot passengers. The refilling of trenches must be in the same manner as that provided for the refilling of water trenches. The paving or street surfacing and curbs and sidewalks are to be restored to at least as good a condition as they were before the excavation was made and all the rubbish and surplus earth must be removed.
