7-1-5: AWNINGS OVER SIDEWALKS:
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to erect, construct or maintain any awning, canopy, or covering over any sidewalk that is not placed upon substantial frames and securely fastened to the building. The lower edge of the frame of any such awning shall not be less than seven feet (7') from the sidewalk, and the lower edge of any skirt of said awning shall not be less than six and one-half feet (61/2') from the sidewalk. Awnings may project into public right of way up to four feet (4'), but shall not project closer than two feet (2') to the curb along the public street or alley. (1996 Code § 3-6-2; amd. 2010 Code)
