(A) (1) The Council, after holding a public hearing thereon, notice of which shall be published at least ten days prior to the date thereof, may by resolution prescribe routes through the city for the use of trucks in general or trucks of particular kinds and other vehicles which are not ordinary private passenger vehicles, passing through or within the city.
(2) The City Manager shall see that appropriate and adequate signs are placed along the routes so that drivers of the vehicles may follow the prescribed routes.
(B) (1) Vehicles in excess of two tons prohibited from using certain streets as follows.
(2) No person shall operate any vehicle exceeding a carry weight in excess of two tons or in excess of two axles at any time upon any streets in the city, except those streets designated as truck routes, and except that the vehicles may be operated thereon for the purpose of delivering or picking up materials or merchandise and then only by entering the street at the intersection nearest the destination of the vehicle and proceeding thereon no further than the nearest intersection thereafter.
