(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this Section and the Indiana Building Code, smoke detectors installed pursuant to this Division shall be directly wired to the power of the building. (Ord. 92-25, § 5-120 (a), 6-1-92)
(b) In each dwelling unit which is in existence on the date of passage of this ordinance, the owner may install a battery-powered smoke detector, or a plug-in or direct-wired smoke detector to fulfill the requirements of Section 6-152 of this Division. (Ord. 91-50, § 5-120, (b), 2-3-92)
