(A) Applicability. Table 153.1122(A) below shows when a buffer yard is required for an abutting zoning district. Uses in the “abutting zoning district” are not required to provide the buffer yard. The applicant shall install the type of buffer yard indicated in Table 153.1122(A).

NOTES TO TABLE:
RP = Resource Protection; RE = Residential Estate; NS = Neighborhood Suburban; NU = Neighborhood Urban; CN = Commercial Neighborhood; O = Office; CG = Commercial General; CL = Commercial Large-Scale; D = Downtown; IL = Industrial Light; and IH = Industrial Heavy. A dash (“-”) means that the buffer yard is not required. For A, B, C, D and E, see buffer yard-type designations as shown in Table 153.1126(A). | ||||||||||
(B) Description of buffer yards. There are six types of buffer yards. Table 153.1126(A) of this chapter illustrates a typical buffer yard and shows the minimum width and number of trees and/or plants required for each 100 lineal feet for each buffer yard. Each buffer yard type provides several plant material options. The applicant may either plant new trees or plants or preserve existing trees or plants within the required buffer that meet the requirements of this section.
(C) Canopy trees. Canopy trees required for Type D and E buffers shall be large shade trees that reach a mature height of at least 60 feet. Where existing or proposed overhead electric lines conflict with tree canopies, understory trees may substitute for canopy trees.
(D) Shrubs. At a minimum, 50% of the shrubs for Type D and E buffers shall be evergreen.
