(a) The City shall provide an annual uniform allowance for all full-time and regular part-time employees not covered by wage agreements in the following classifications:
Superintendent of Water Plant, Distribution and Utilities | $200.00 |
Superintendent of Wastewater | $200.00 |
Fire Chief | $350.00 |
Assistant Fire Chief | $350.00 |
Police Chief | $350.00 |
Police Lieutenant(s) | $350.00 |
Superintendent of Streets | $200.00 |
City Building Custodian/Maintenance(s) | $200.00 |
Assistant Superintendent Water Plant | $200.00 |
(b) The aforestated uniform allowance shall be payable, as follows: One-half of such amount shall be payable on or before March 15 and one-half of such amount shall be payable on or before September 15. The foregoing amount(s) shall be certified by the appropriate appointing authority.
(c) No payment of any such uniform allowance shall be made during an employee's initial probationary period. Upon completion of an initial probationary period, a pro-rata uniform allowance shall be paid for the time period between the completion of such probationary period and the next regularly scheduled uniform allowance distribution.
(d) Employees who separate from employment for any reason within 60 days of any distribution of the uniform allowance shall reimburse fifty dollars ($50.00) of such payment to the employer by payroll deduction from the employee's final paycheck.
(e) The uniform allowance as provided herein shall be used to purchase and maintain all required uniform items for the purpose of maintaining a neat and uniform appearance. Required uniform items shall be determined by the appropriate appointing authority. Uniform items and/or any pins, insignias, patches, etc. not required by the employer may not be worn without the permission of the employer.
