252.02   RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.
   (a)   Subject to the provisions of division (b) of this section, all regular, seasonal and part-time salaried and hourly employees of the City shall adhere to, and be in compliance with, all residency requirements and laws as established under, and pursuant to, applicable Ohio law, as the same may, from time to time, be amended.

    (b)   Any person who is beginning employment with the City and who is subject to a probationary period shall be in full compliance with all residency requirements and laws as established under, and pursuant to, applicable Ohio law, as amended, before receiving his or her permanent appointment as an employee of the City.

   (c)   Any employee failing to meet the above requirements shall be dismissed from service by the head of the appropriate department.
   (d)   (1)   To ensure adequate response time by employees of the City to emergencies or disasters, while ensuring that such employees are generally free to reside throughout the State of Ohio, from and after the effective date of this division (d), all employees hired by the said City of Greenville, as a condition of employment with such City, shall reside in Darke County, Ohio, or in a county in the State of Ohio adjacent to Darke County, Ohio.
      (2)   This division (d) shall not apply to volunteers acting on behalf of the City. For purposes of this division, the term "volunteer" shall have the same meaning as defined in Ohio R.C. 9.481(A)(2), as amended.
