§ 36.032 MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.
To help ensure that employees are able to perform their duties safely, medical examinations may be required. After a conditional offer of employment has been extended during the hiring process, applicants may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical examination by a health professional of the city’s choice, at the city’s expense. Employees shall be required to submit to fitness for duty medical or psychological evaluations prior to returning from military leave or employee illness or injury leave under FMLA, or to meet terms and conditions associated with performing job duties. Applicants may be required to submit to a drug test prior to being hired by the city. Information on an employee’s medical condition or history shall be kept in a confidential file that is separate from other employee information and maintained by the Clerk-Treasurer. Access to this information will be limited to the employee, department head of the employee and persons designated by the Mayor on a need-to-know basis.
