It is the purpose of this title:
A. To promote the public health, safety, morals, comfort, convenience, prosperity and general welfare;
B. To establish minimum design standards intended to encourage the development of subdivisions that are compatible with the unique character, spaciousness, and ambience of existing development and the preservation of existing natural features within the community;
C. To secure the most appropriate use of land, and to facilitate the adequate and economical provision of public improvements;
D. To provide for future growth and development in accordance with the comprehensive plan of the village;
E. To afford adequate facilities for the safe, convenient and efficient means for the traffic circulation of its population;
F. To safeguard the public against flood damage;
G. To encourage the wise use, management and preservation of natural resources throughout the village in order to preserve the integrity, stability and beauty of the community and value of the land;
H. To prescribe reasonable rules and regulations governing the subdivision and platting of land; the preparation of plats; the location, width and course of streets and highways; the installation of utilities, street pavements and other essential improvements, and the necessary public grounds for schools, parks, playgrounds, trails, wetlands, and open spaces;
I. To establish procedures for the submission, approval and recording of plats. (Ord. 90-O-03, 7-25-1990)
