No owner, operator or occupant shall cause any service facility equipment or utility which is required under this Code to be removed, shut off from or discontinued in any occupied dwelling or commercial unit except for such temporary interruption as may be necessary while actual repairs or alterations are in progress, or during the temporary emergencies when discontinuance is approved. Upon the discontinuance of gas or electric service for cause, the Building Inspector shall be promptly notified. Upon receipt of such notice, the Building Inspector shall take immediate steps to have the responsible person correct conditions leading to such action upon order of the Building Inspector or other authorized official.
